Hotel Holland | The Netherlands is a beautiful country to visit. It has lots and lots to offer. It doesn't matter if you are here as a couple or as a family with children. Our hotel is located in Westerbork, a small village in the North-East. It is in the province Drenthe, which is a very nice province, known for the beautiful nature. Westerbork is a cosy village where a lot if happening. There are several restaurants, little shops and now and then there are events that are being organized. Westerbork is in the center of Drenthe, which means everything is within reach. Are you looking for a fun stay in the Netherlands? Then visit Abdij de Westerburcht!
The theme
You might think we used to be an old abbey. Surprisingly that is not the case. We are a themed hotel and inspired by an abbey in the south of the Netherlands: Abdij Koningshoeven. Here one of the few Trappist beers in the Netherlands is brewed by monks, the beer is called La Trappe. Our hotel looks like an abbey, but was not an abbey itself. When the owner took over the hotel from his parents, he wanted to make it a themed hotel. At the end of 1997 he traveled to the abbey with his father (the former owner) and was invited to have a tour of one of the monks. This monk told them all about the monks' values, and this led to the owner being so inspired that he wanted to use this subject for his hotel. The monk gave him a wonderful piece of stained glass as the first building block and that was the beginning of Abdij de Westerburcht.
The rooms
What sets Abdij de Westerburcht apart from other Dutch hotels are the rooms. When you visit a hotel, most rooms usually look the same. This is not the case with us. Just like our hotel, our rooms are themed. What is exciting, is that the themes are very different. We have rooms with the theme of the abbey, but also rooms with more active themes. You can think of WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo, TT Circuit, a golf room, but also beauty and wellness rooms with sun showers! For those who like wellness, we also have rooms with a terrace and private sauna! Our rooms are so comfortable that you don't even have to leave the hotel to have a comfortable stay. The room is a big part of your experience!
The restaurant
We love food and drink and especially the combination. That is why we have a nice restaurant and a large terrace where our guests can enjoy their drinks. The advantage of our terrace is that we have several heaters to keep you warm in the evening. This way you can maybe have dinner outside and watch the Dutch sunset. In our restaurant we have an extensive menu where we try to use as many regional products as possible. Our cooks even have an organic garden with products such as vegetables and herbs. These products are used in the preparation of the dishes. We also have an extensive beer and wine list and offer different highs: high tea, high coffee, high beer, high wine and even a high cocktail.
