Located in the heart of Westerbork, which in turn is the beating heart of Midden-Drenthe and Drenthe itself, you will find our cosy restaurant, where we would love to welcome you.
Whether you drop by early in the morning for a delicious cup of coffee accompanied by fresh pastries, or whether you prefer to end the day with us, we have something tasty to offer for every moment of the day. Our cuisine is inspired by both regional traditions and international culinary influences and local, organic & sustainable whenever possible. Our talented chefs work exclusively with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients to create dishes that have a perfect balance of flavour and presentation. For those with special dietary requirements, we also have a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
We like to cook with regional products from Drenthe and sometimes Trappist beers. The rich, complex flavour of these Trappist beers adds an extra dimension to the most diverse dishes. In addition, we use ingredients from our own organic garden for an optimal taste experience!

Breakfast de Westerburcht - €12.50 per person (from 8.30 - 12.00): Enjoy a deliciously prepared breakfast, consisting of a fresh cup of coffee or tea, a glass of fresh orange juice, 2 hearty slices of sourdough bread with toppings of your choice, and a tasty portion of yoghurt or fruit quark with fresh fruit and cereals. A perfect start to your day full of energy and flavour.
Extensive Breakfast Buffet (Mon-Fri 07.00-10.00, Sat-Sun 08.00-10.30) - €16.50 per person: For those who love a full breakfast, we have a delicious breakfast buffet waiting for you. Choose from a variety of hot and cold dishes, freshly baked bread, an assortment of savoury and sweet spreads, healthy muesli, fruit salad and many more delicacies to start the day off right. Different types of coffee and tea, fresh orange juice and two types of organic juices.

Culinary hiking package
Enjoy the Culinary hiking package at Abdij de Westerburcht! Start with a warm welcome in the restaurant, where you will be served coffee/tea and pastries. Continue your adventure in the charming village of Orvelte, where 'De Schenkerij' awaits you with a delicious soup. The historical setting and hospitable ambiance will make for an unforgettable experience. Nature, history, good food and sociability come together in this package. On your return, you will be served a lunch or main course. Depending on the chosen package (morning or afternoon). Put on your walking shoes and be treated during this special outing!

Best terrace of Drenthe 2017/2018/2022 & 2023
Our terrace is nicely situated in the sun and attractively decorated with fireplaces (which we can light on request), terrace heaters and lounge sofas. For many years, our terrace has been included in the top 100 best terraces in the Netherlands voted by Misset Horeca. In 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023, we were even voted Best Terrace of Drenthe! Next to our terrace you will find a cheerful play paradise for your children to use. With views from the terrace or from the restaurant, you can let your children play with peace of mind. In addition, we are a pet-friendly restaurant. Only in the conservatories of our restaurant, pets are not allowed. Centrally located in Drenthe, a short distance from Assen, Hoogeveen and Emmen. Surrounded by beautiful countryside; ideal for cycling and walking.
