Walk outside of Westerbork through an ancient landscape. The penultimate ice age here had a great influence on the landscape and formed the Drents Plateau. The farmers settled on these 'Drenthe Highlands' and formed the characteristic 'Drenthe esdorpen' landscape of high-lying villages with green and ash trees (fields), hedgerows and low-lying meadows and hay meadows in the basin of the brook (Westerborkerstroom).

You can shorten the walking route. This halves the number of kilometers. This is clearly indicated on the route.
