Golf in Drenthe

Golf Club 'De Semslanden' in Gasseltenijveen

Almost always playable. On summer greens.

The Hondsrug is a sand bank that was formed during the last ice age. It is the only part of Drenthe that is almost always dry and passable. Golf course 'De Semslanden' can therefore be played almost all year round. Even after prolonged rain you can quickly play again on the summer greens.

The course was designed by the top golf architects of their time. The first nine holes were completed in 1989 to a design by Eschauzier & Thate. The second nine were later signed by Gerard Jol.
The holes are tough challenges for both high and low handicappers. But anyone who dares to take a risk can also take birdies.

'De Semslanden' offers everything you would expect from a good golf course: a qualifying 18-hole course with well-maintained fairways and greens, a practice course with nine par-3 holes, a partially covered driving range, two putting greens, a chipping green, a pro-shop and even a pro-studio for video analysis of your swing including a FlightScope; a 3D ball and club tracking system that works on the basis of Doppler Radar.

Golf Club 'De Gelpenberg' in Aalden

"One of the most beautiful golf courses in the north of the Netherlands"

The Drentse Golfclub De Gelpenberg offers excellent facilities to provide both members and guests with a wonderful golf day.
The beautiful 18-hole golf course, which lies partly in a typical 'Drenthe' forest and heathland landscape, also has a beautiful water feature that dominates your game on the three surrounding holes. A golf course with beautiful views and beautiful vistas.

The course is located on sandy soil and can therefore playable throughout the year. The first 9 holes were created in 1972 to a design by Frank Pennink in a rolling landscape of forest, heathland and a sand drift. In 1992 the expansion to 18 holes was realised to a design by Donald Steel. An important track renovation was completed in 2011 under the direction of Frank Pont, which brought the course to a higher level in terms of landscape and playing techniques. Good course management is rewarded at "De Gelpenberg" and the largest natural bunker on hole 18 (the sand drift) makes your round of golf a unique experience.
